The girls continue to make remarkable improvement in their studies.  We couldn’t be more proud of them.  This year they have been taking Tae Kwon Do two days a week.  At first they were timid and so unsure of themselves, but in the last two months they have passed testing for their high white belt.  They have learned to count to 10 in Korean.  They are becoming more confident and stronger.  Tae Kwon Do has helped them understand the structure of sport, hard work and discipline.  We are so proud of the progress they are making and look forward to their next belt testing.

This year we have had some amazing opportunities to share with others about all the incredible things God is doing in our school and with our girls.  This powerful young woman has been with the ministry since the beginning.  God has brought her up and now is using her as the spokeswoman for our Academy.  Whenever given an opportunity, this student makes our foundational verse Jeremiah 1:7 come alive.  She speaks whatever it is that God places on her heart.  So we wrap up our first round of student spotlight posts with…

Tri R

Yellow…my name is Tri, at school they call me Enemy of the Devil because 1 Peter 5:8 said those who are child of God will be fighting the devil.  I’ve been in America for 5 years.

I’ve been part of One7 Ministries for 5 years and I’m also a part of One7 Academy.  At One7 Academy we do Maths, Sciences, Social Studies and language arts.  At free time we play games like Sudoku, rummicube, scrabble, golf, pick of sticks and Mancala.  We also learn and have fun at the same time.  Thank you to Dr. Chun for letting us use his library.  It’s all thank you to God for letting us start One7 Academy.

Since we don’t have a worship band, we stop doing the worship, but we used to worship.  We didn’t give up on talking about God or worship but we always given thanks to Him for new people that support One7 and help One7 and nothing is impossible with God, and life might seem small, and weak, but God is bigger and stronger.  We just have to let him use us in different ways.

With snow days and make up work and getting back on track this week, there was a LOT going on at the Academy.  I don’t know about you, but we are excited to be back in the saddle and headed towards our spring semester.  Report cards go out today and I must say, I am SO PROUD of our girls.  They are working hard and moving up in every subject.  We close the first semester with all the girls on the A/B honor role.  We could not be more proud of what they are doing and who they are.

This week we put the spotlight on our uniquely beautiful…

Maryan H

Hello, my name is Mariamo (or Maryan).  I am from Somalia.  I moved to the United States because I needed help for education and my family needed jobs for clothes.  I came to the United States when I was 9 years old.  When I came to the United States I started school and began to learn some English.

I love to come to One7 Academy because I learn a lot more than when I was in public school.  School is really fun and the teachers are nice.  My favorite subject is art.

I’ve been coming to One7 since 2007, I knew about it for a long time before I came the first time. My favorite part about One7 is when they love me.  The most important thing I’ve learned at One7 is that you should love somebody no matter what they do to you.

So, this week was full of surprises!  We missed 3 days of school for SNOW –  awesome and not-so-much all at the same time (I’ll let you figure out why).  A two hour delay yesterday and now finally a full day of school…wait is it Friday?

Anyway, we have another beautiful young lady for you to meet this week.  She was previously known as our “quite one” but today this little lady is full of laughter and an opinion about something.  It’s an amazing transformation for our very own…

Kiet R.

I moved to the United States because my parents help Christian people.  And I didn’t know what was happen when I was a little kid.  I moved to the United States when I when I was 10 year old.  First we moved to Cambodia when I was 7 years old.

My favorite music is Your Love Never Fails.  I am 15 years old.  I like the uniforms and girls.  We learn everything.  We learn new Math, Science and Social Studies.

When I came to One7 I got in embarrassed when I met people.  We played soccer.  And next week they picked us and we went to One7 and I met lots of people.

The whirlwind of Christmas and New Year’s is starting to settle.  The girls are back hard at work and last week we had some visitors helping us get back in the swing of school.  It was a great week and it’s time to meet another of our incredible students.  This week may I introduce

Khon K…

Hi, my name is Khon or Konnie in at One7 Academy they call me Light of the World because is the title that God has given me.  It is in John 4:14.  I am not only Light of the World but everybody is the Light of the World.  I am 14 years old.  I take Tae Kwon Do.  When I grow up I want to be a singer and there are a lot of things that I want to be.

I have been coming to One7 about 2 and half years.  One7 is a family to me.  One7 is a place where all people from different countries come together as a family and learn more about God and how great He is; how beautiful He is; and how He love us.  We get One7 from the Bible in the book of Jeremiah and it says you are never to young to talk about God’s word or preach and you never walk alone.

In One7 Academy I learn that love is the most important thing in the world.  We are all God’s children and we belong to Him and He created us.  It says this in Genesis 1:27.  One7 Academy is a fun school and you also learn more we are lucky that we go to One7 Academy because there are a lot of children in this world who need education and know about God.

I like to know about God.  I like to worship and read about God’s word and pray to Him because it draws me close to Him.  In this world we live by faith and not by sight because the earth is still sinner.  God is the most important thing in our life.  I’m so glad that God has set me free from my sin.  I love my family and all of the people around me.  Hope ya’ll enjoyed reading this post.

We’ve been VERY busy at the Academy in the last few months!  The girls are reading like crazy, excelling in math, and having a blast.  We thought we would take a moment, before updating you on the last few months of study, and introduce you to the girls that make up One7 Academy…up this week:

Chinh R.

Yallow people my name is Chinnie,  I am 14 years old and I am shy person.  When I grow up I want to be a singer.  My favorite activity is going to Tae Kwon Do.  At school I do Math, Science, Social Studies, Language arts and Bible.

When I have free time, I love to play rummicube and pick up sticks.  In the afternoon I do spelling, explode the code, beyond the code and stepping up.  When I am done with all my work my teacher reads a book for us and we play games with her.

I have come to One7 in the summer of 2009.  I learned the most important thing at One7 is that we are not to young to preach and we are part of a family.  In One7 we used to have a worship team but the guys all went to college and we don’t have worship anymore but we used to and I hope the band will come back.

Field Trips and other fun

Posted: October 3, 2010 in Uncategorized

A few weeks ago we went to Carowinds.  So. Fun.  The weather was beautiful and the girls wanted to ride ALL the water rides!  It was so great for us to spend some time catching up and hearing what everyone did for the summer.

We wrapped up our study of Canada with a celebration of Canadian food that Friday.  Miss Jacki brought in a traditional soup with lots of yummy veggies & chicken.  Miss Laura made a traditional fries with gravy and blueberry dessert with vanilla ice cream.  It was a great time sharing what the girls had learned over a meal together.

We also spent a Friday Field Trip Day at The Billy Graham Library.  That was such a great experience.  Miss Audra was in town so she went with us.  We had a great time learning about the life and ministry of this amazing man of God.  Miss Laura’s mother Miss Ruth also met us with gifts from the Dare to be a Daniel program and t-shirts.  She also gave us a tour of the offices, which was very special.  All in all that was a great day.

We have some really fun things on the horizon.  We have been going to Imaginon to get library books. We are practicing reading aloud to the group so that we can visit a local elementary school in a few months.  The girls are working hard and doing a great job with their English and language studies.

After a summer full of reading the girls are ready to take their studies to the next level this year.  With Miss Jacki leading the way in Math, Science, Bible and world studies, Miss Laura joins the team this year teaching Language and Fine Arts.

We have some fun things in the works for our awesome students this year and can’t wait to keep you updated on their progress.  So, buckle up and come back often to keep up with our adventures.
